The Witch's Tale was heard from 05/21/31 to 10/15/34 on WOR New York and then continued til 06/13/38 over Mutual. The original voice for Old Nancy was played by Adelaide Fitz-Allen. She passed away in 1935 at the age of 79. Alonzo Deen Cole, the writer and director of the series auditioned Miriam Wolfe (a Let's Pretend regular) and hired her on the spot to play the role.. Miriam was just 13 years old.
The was produced in two different formats allowing
stations to air them as a 30 minute program, or as a two seperate 15 minute
programs. A mixture of both formats are found in this collection.
Some of the epsiodes are a bit challenging but,
they're a must for the serious collector.
